Mussels

Loch Fyne Golden Shell Hebridean Mussels are grown in the cool clear waters of Loch Roag in the Outer Hebrides.
We became the first company in the world to be recognised for its ethical mussel farming, winning accreditation from the internationally recognised ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council), meaning they are farmed to the world’s leading standards for responsible aquaculture.
The ASC label guarantees that our shellfish are grown with care for the environment, local communities, and the people who work on the farms. In Loch Roag on the Isle of Lewis, our mussels grow naturally on ropes suspended in clean, nutrient-rich waters. Our farm is independently audited to ensure it meets strict ASC requirements for water quality, habitat protection, and responsible farming practices.

By choosing ASC-labelled Loch Fyne mussels, you are helping to protect Scotland’s waters, support coastal communities and assure a healthy, sustainable future for seafood.

Our mussels grow naturally in the pristine waters of Loch Roag in the far north of Scotland, where wild spat settles on suspended ropes and matures in the clear, tidal flow.
Once fully grown, the mussels are harvested, graded for quality, and carefully packed in secure leak-proof trays or biodegradable nets. They then travel by ferry to the mainland, ready to be enjoyed by customers at selected retailers, restaurants and the Loch Fyne Deli.
Our fresh mussels are currently available from the following retailers:
Loch Fyne Deli, Carindow, Argyll.
Waitrose, selected stores.
Ocado, available to order online here.
