Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd is based at Cairndow, at the head of Loch Fyne on the West Coast of Scotland.

From this stunning location we have been supplying our customers with Scotland's finest fish and seafood for 40 years.  From our internationally renowned Oyster Bar Restaurant and through the products we sell globally, we pride ourselves on provenance, quality and sustainability.

Our team at Cairndow fulfill a wide variety of roles from processing staff to restaurant and retail staff, along with administration and sales.  We employ over 125 people and have developed strong links with the local communities. COMMIS CHEF
Working with our Kitchen Team in our award winning Oyster Bar Restaurant

  • Contract Type: Permanent.
  • Rate of Pay: £7.85 per hour (increases to £7.96 per hour after successful completion of probation period).
  • Working Hours: Variable hours, with evening and weekend working required.
  • Other Info: Due to shifts, own transport is essential. Car share available from/to Glasgow, Helensburgh and Dumbarton.

Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic COMMIS CHEF to join our busy Kitchen Team, preparing and cooking dishes from our menu.

Experience in a similar environment working with fish and seafood would be preferred but is not essential, though a passion for food and development is.  You must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced kitchen, have good communication skills and excellent food hygiene standards.

DELI ASSISTANTS
Working with our Delicatessen Team

  • Contract Type: Temporary - Seasonal.

  • Other Info: Due to shifts, own transport is essential. Some shifts may be compatible with the public bus service.

Job Description:
We are looking for enthusiastic, customer focused people, with a confident, friendly and outgoing nature to join our Delicatessen Team.

The successful candidates need to have a cheerful and positive manner, excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise customers on our products, plus be able to work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in a retail or catering role is preferred. Training will be provided.

Duties include: interacting with and serving customers; providing information and suggestions on our products, cash handling, stock rotation and replenishment, food, beverage and product preparation for takeaway, promotional tastings and assisting with the deli displays.

PROCESSING OPERATIVES
To assist in our Smoked Salmon Processing Areas

  • Contract Type: Temporary/Permanent positions available.
  • Rate of Pay: £7.85 per hour (increases to £7.96 per hour after successful completion of probation period).
  • Working Hours: Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week.  Part time hours also available.
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.45pm / Friday 7.45am to 1.45pm.
  • Other Info: Public transport is available from/to Dunoon.

Job Description:

We require additional staff to join our PRODUCTION TEAM to work in a variety of areas, assisting with the preparation, slicing and packing of smoked salmon for the retail trade.  The ideal candidates need to be committed, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in food handling is not essential, as training will be provided. 

We have a range of positions available in the following Production Areas:

FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE
Using Global G.A.P accredited salmon which is delivered to us already gutted, our Filleting Team hand and machine fillet our salmon. Once filleted, our team then cure the salmon before washing and loading it into our smoking kilns.

SLICING ROOM – this area consists of 4 different sections:
Trimming: works as a small production line with our team trimming, removing pin bones and grading the salmon.
Slicing Machines: involves the operation of 2 slicing machines; one for cutting strips of salmon along the length of the fillet and a second machine for slicing a diagonal cut.
Slicing Hall: consists of a large conveyor system with separate stations; each station has its own table and scale.  All of our salmon packs are produced at these stations, before being placed onto a roller track and then moved into our Vacuum Packing section. 
Vacuum Packing: all of our products are bagged, vacuum packed and then bar-coded in this section before being moved through to our Despatch area.

DESPATCH
At our dedicated packing stations, our Despatch Team pick and pack orders, selecting a wide range of items including, smoked products, fresh fish, shellfish, meats and marinated produce.  The boxes are then transferred by roller track to a despatch station, where the boxes are then iced and labeled, before being passed through a strapping machine, then palletised and moved to our despatch chill, ready for despatch to our cstomers.

YARD
The Yard Team operate a wide variety of equipment within the yard areas, including counterbalance forklift trucks to load and unload delivery lorries, as well as assisting with the traffic flow through the Goods-In/Out areas, plus carrying out a range of checks and cleaning duties.

TEAM LEADER (FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE)
Working with our Filleting/Smokehouse Team

  • Rate of Pay: £8.78 per hour (increases to £9.20 per hour after successful completion of probation period).
  • Working Hours: Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week.  
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.45pm / Friday 7.45am to 1.45pm.
  • Other Info: Public transport is available from/to Dunoon.

Job Description:
We require an organised, enthusiastic and reliable person to assist in the day to day supervision of our Filleting/Smokehouse Team in our Production area.

The successful candidate must have strong leadership and communication skills/experience, with the ability to motivate and lead a team, plus be able to perform well under pressure.  Previous supervisor experience is required. Training will be provided.

Duties will include:

  • Daily supervision of the FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE TEAM, allocating work, deputising in the absence of the Filleting/Smokehouse Manager, plus assisting with filleting, curing and smoking duties.
  • Assisting staff to fulfil their duties to ensure productivity, quality and yield targets are met.
  • Motivation, training and development of staff to maximise personal and team performance.
  • Manage and control stock rotation.
  • Supervision of staff to ensure they follow Company policies, procedures and relevant laws in relation to working practice, health and safety, quality, food safety, allergen control and security.
