Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd is based at Cairndow, at the head of Loch Fyne on the West Coast of Scotland.

From this stunning location we have been supplying our customers with Scotland's finest fish and seafood for over 40 years.  From our internationally renowned Oyster Bar Restaurant and through the products we sell globally, we pride ourselves on provenance, quality and sustainability.

Our team at Cairndow fulfill a wide variety of roles from processing staff to restaurant and retail staff, along with administration and sales.  We employ over 125 people and have developed strong links with the local communities.   • Job Title: PROCESSING OPERATIVE (Dayshift)
  • Contract Type: Temporary (up to at least December 2021).
  • Rate of Pay: £8.95 per hour (increases to £9.05 per hour after successful completion of probation period).
  • Working Hours: Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week.   
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.45pm / Friday 7.45am to 1.45pm.

Job Description:

We require additional staff to join our PRODUCTION TEAM to work in a variety of areas, assisting with the preparation, slicing and packing of smoked salmon for the retail trade.  The ideal candidates need to be committed, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in food handling is not essential, as training will be provided.  Current Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence would be beneficial.

 

We have a range of positions available in the following Production Areas:

FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE

Using Global GAP approved salmon which is supplied to us already gutted, our Filleting Team hand and machine fillet our salmon. Once filleted, our team then cure the salmon before washing and loading it into our smoking kilns.

 

SLICING ROOM – this area consists of 4 different sections:

Trimming: works as a small production line with our team trimming, removing pin bones and grading the salmon.

Slicing Machines: involves the operation of 2 slicing machines; one for cutting strips of salmon along the length of the fillet and a second machine for slicing a diagonal cut.

Slicing Hall: consists of a large conveyor system with separate stations; each station has its own table and scale.  All of our salmon packs are produced at these stations, before being placed onto a roller track and then moved into our Vacuum Packing section. 

Vacuum Packing: all of our products are bagged, vacuum packed and then bar-coded in this section before being moved through to our Despatch area.

  

YARD

The Yard Team operate a wide variety of equipment within the Yard areas, including counterbalance forklift trucks to load and unload delivery lorries, as well as assisting with the traffic flow through the Goods In/Out areas, plus carrying out a range of checks and cleaning duties.

  • Contract Type: Temporary (3 month minimum temporary contract).
  • Rate of Pay: £8.95 per hour (increases to £9.05 per hour after successful completion of probation period).
  • Nightshift Allowance: £180.00 per week.    
  • Working Hours: Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week. 
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 5.00pm to 2.00am / Friday 2.00pm to 8.00pm. 
  • Other Info: Successful applicants must have their own transport.  

 

Job Description:

We require additional staff to join our NIGHTSHIFT TEAM to carry out a variety of hygiene/cleaning tasks, plus assist with the production of smoked salmon for the retail trade. 

Duties will include:

  • Stripping and assembling production machinery for cleaning purposes
  • Cleaning production areas
  • Operation of box washing machine 
  • Curing and smoking salmon
  • Operating smoking kilns
  • Machine slicing salmon
  • Bar coding and vauum packing of products

The succesful applicants need to be committed, reliable and able to work well as part of a small team and without supervision at times.  Duties will involve some heavy lifting, therefore experience with safe manual handling and the ability to carry out a physical role is essential. 

You will also need a flexible approach to your duties and working hours, as overtime may be required from time to time.  Previous experience is not essential, as training will be provided. 

  • Due to the shift pattern, applicants must have their own transport.
  • Current Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence would be benefical.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a similar environment working with fish and seafood, be able to work well under pressure in an extremely fast paced kitchen, have excellent communication skills and exceptional food hygiene standards.

We are looking for an enthusiastic COMMIS CHEF to join our busy KITCHEN TEAM, preparing and cooking dishes from our menu. 

Experience in a similar environment working with fish and seafood, would be preferred but is not essential, though a passion for food and development is. You must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced kitchen, have good communication skills and excellent food hygiene standards.

We are looking for customer focused people, with a friendly, outgoing nature to join our busy FRONT OF HOUSE RESTAURANT TEAM. 

You will need to have excellent customer service and communication skills, a cheerful and positive manner, be able to work well as part of a team, plus the ability to work in a busy restaurant environment. Previous experience in a catering or hospitality role is preferred. 

Duties will include: taking customer orders, serving food/drink, clearing and resetting tables, cash handling and dealing with customers.

Job Description:

We are looking for enthusiastic, customer focused people to join our DELICATESSEN TEAM. 

You will need to have a positive and friendly personality, excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to influence and advise customers on our products, plus be able to work well as part of a busy team. Previous experience in a retail or catering role is preferred. 

Duties will include: interacting with and serving customers; providing information and suggestions on our products, cash handling, stock rotation and replenishment, food, beverage and product preparation for takeaway, promotional tastings, assisting with the deli dispays, plus keeping the deli clean and tidy.
