 Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd is based at Cairndow, at the head of Loch Fyne on the West Coast of Scotland.

From this stunning location we have been supplying our customers with Scotland's finest fish and seafood for over 40 years.  From our internationally renowned Oyster Bar Restaurant and through the products we sell globally, we pride ourselves on provenance, quality and sustainability.

Our team at Cairndow fulfill a wide variety of roles from processing staff to restaurant and retail staff, along with administration and sales.  We employ over 125 people and have developed strong links with the local communities. PROCESSING OPERATIVES (Smoked Salmon Production)
To assist in our Smoked Salmon Processing Areas

  • Contract Type: Temporary (to last up to at least December 2019).
  • Rate of Pay: £8.25 per hour (increases to £8.35 per hour after successful completion of probation period).
  • Working Hours: Full time, based on 40 hours per week.  Part time hours also available. 
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 16.45pm / Friday 7.45am to 13.45pm. 
  • Other Info: Public transport is available from/to Dunoon.  If travelling from Helensburgh, Dumbarton or Glagow, your own transport is essential. .

Job Description:

We require additional staff to join our Production Team to work in a variety of areas, assisting with the preparation, slicing and packing of smoked salmon for the retail trade.  The ideal candidates need to be committed, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in food handling is not essential, as training will be provided.

We have a range of positions available in the following Production Areas:  

FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE
Using Global GAP approved salmon which is supplied to us already gutted, our Filleting Team hand and machine fillet our salmon.  Once filleted, our team then cure the salmon before washing and loading it into our smoking kilns.

SLICING ROOM - this area consists of 4 different sections:
Trimming: works as a small production line with our team trimming, removing pin bones and grading the salmon.
Slicing Machines
: involves the operation of 2 machines; one for cutting strips of salmon along the length of the fillet and a second machine for slicing a diagonal cut.
Slicing Hall: consists of a large conveyor system with separate stations; each station has its own table and scale.  All of our salmon packs are produced at these stations, before being placed onto a roller track and then moved into our vacuum packing section.

Vacuum Packing: all of our products are bagged, vacuum packed and then bar-coded in this section before being moved through to our Despatch area.

DESATCH
At our packing stations, our Despatch Team pick and pack orders, selecting a wide range of items including, smoked products, fresh fish, shellfish, meats and marinated produce.  The boxes are then transferred to a despatch station where they are iced and labelled, before being passed through a strapping machine, palletised and moved to our despatch chill, ready for delivery to our customers.  

YARD
The Yard Team operate a wide variety of equipment within the Yard areas, including counterbalance forklift trucks to load and unload delivery lorries, as well as assisting with the traffic flow through the Goods In/Out areas, plus carrying out a range of checks and cleaning duties.

DELI ASSISTANTS
Working with our Delicatessen Team

Job Description:

We are looking for enthusiastic, customer focused individuals to join our DelicatessenTeam.

The successful candidates need to have a positive and friendly personality, excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to influence and advise customers on our products, plus be able to work well as part of a busy team. Previous experience in a retail or catering role would be preferred, however training will be provided.

Duties include: interacting with and advising customers, providing information and suggestions on our products, cash handling, stock rotation and replenishment, food, beverage and product preparation for takeaway, promotional tastings, assisting with the deli displays and keeping the deli clean and tidy.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Food Hygiene cerification would be advantageous.
  • Staff Working in Scottish Licenced Premises certification would also be beneficial.
  • Further development will be provided.

WAITING STAFF

Job Description:

We are looking for customer focused people, with a friendly, outgoing nature to join our Front of House Restaurant Team.

The successful candidates need to have excellent customer service and communication skills, have a cheeful and positive manner, be able to work well as part of a team, plus the ability to work in a busy restaurant environment. Previous experience in a hospitality or catering role is preferred.

Duties include: taking customer orders, serving food/drink, clearing and resetting tables, cash handling and dealing with customers.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Food Hygiene cerification would be advantageous.
  • Staff Working in Scottish Licenced Premises certification would also be beneficial.

Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our Kitchen Team, assisting in the running of the kitchen, preparing and cooking dishes from our menu.

Experience in a similar environment working with fish and seafood would be beneficial but is not essential, though a passion for food and development is.

You must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen, plus have good communication skills and excellent food hygiene standards.

Qualifications:
