Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd is based at Cairndow, at the head of Loch Fyne on the West Coast of Scotland.

From this stunning location we have been supplying our customers with Scotland's finest fish and seafood for 40 years.  From our internationally renowned Oyster Bar Restaurant and through the products we sell globally, we pride ourselves on provenance, quality and sustainability.

Our team at Cairndow fulfill a wide variety of roles from processing staff to restaurant and retail staff, along with administration and sales.  We employ over 125 people and have developed strong links with the local communities. There is flexibility within the work place to move between roles and departments.

PRODUCTION MANAGER (HEBRIDEAN MUSSELS)
To manage our Mussel Processing and Despatch Centre Team at our Hebridean Mussels Site

  • Contract Type: Permanent.
  • Salary: Negotiable - dependent on experience.
  • Working Hours: Full time hours, based on a 40 hour week. 
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm.
  • Other Info: Full driving licence and your own transport is essential for this role.

Job Description:

We require a practical, enthusiastic and motivated person to join our HEBRIDEAN MUSSELS TEAM to manage our Mussel Processing and Despatch Centre at our Earshader site, located on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides.

The ideal person must have the following competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven leaderships skills; with the ability to manage, motivate and lead a team of people.
  • Competent in problem solving and decision making.
  • Excellent organisational and process management skills.
  • Experience of aquaculture or manufacturing and processing environments.
  • Proactive approach to stock control and waste management.
  • Strong IT skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel.

Qualifications:

  • Powerboat Level 2 Commercially Endorsed or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Telescopic forklift truck, first aid, food hygiene, plus health and safety certification would also be beneficial.
  • Valid Driver CPC card for operating 7.5 tonne truck would be desirable, plus relevant driving licence.
  • Further development through in-house and external training providers will be provided.

Due to the location of the site and duties, a full, clean, driving licence and your own transport is essential for this role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day to day operation of the Mussel Processing and Despatch Centre.
  • Plan and control product and material stock, ensuring minimum wastage.
  • Staff management, ensuring company procedures and relevant laws are adhered to.
  • Operation of equipment and vehicles for the processing and despatch of product.
  • Maintenance of all mussel processing equipment.
  • Regular stock taking.

SEA OPERATIVE (HEBRIDEAN MUSSELS)
To assist with the processing of shellfish at our Hebridean Mussels Site

  • Contract Type: Permanent.
  • Rate of Pay: Competitive - dependent on experience.
  • Working Hours: Full time hours, based on a 40 hour week. 
  • Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm.
  • Other Info: Full driving licence and your own transport is essential for this role.

Job Description:

We require a highly reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our HEBRIDEAN MUSSELS TEAM, assisting with the farming and processing of shellfish at our Earshader site, located on the Isle of Lewis, Outer Hebrides.

The ideal person will be able to work well within a small team.  Previous aquaculture experience, with transferrable related skills and qualifications preferable.

Qualifications:

  • Powerboat Level 2 Commercially Endorsed or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
  • Telescopic forklift truck, first aid and food hygiene certification would also be beneficial, but is not essential.
  • Further development through in-house and external training providers will be provided.

Due to the location of the site, a full driving licence and your own transport is essential for this role.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Harvesting, husbandry, processing, grading and packing of shellfish.
  • Operation of equipment for the husbandry and processing of shellfish.
  • Assisting with the day to day operation of the Mussel Processing and Despatch Centre.
