Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd is based at Cairndow, at the head of Loch Fyne on the West Coast of Scotland.  From this stunning location we have been supplying our customers with the finest fish and seafood for over 45 years.  From our internationally renowned Oyster Bar Restaurant and through the products we sell globally, we pride ourselves on provenance, quality and sustainability.

We are in the envious position where we can enjoy all the great outdoors has to offer; beautiful beaches, views, walks, wildlife and outdoor sports, as well as not being far from Dunoon, Helensburgh, Dumbarton and Glasgow, to enjoy the benefits of a large town or city. 

Our team at Cairndow fulfil a wide variety of roles from our restaurant and retail teams, along with administration, sales and support functions.  As well as our site in Argyll, we also have Aquaculture sites located on the Isle of Lewis and Cumbria.

  • Pay Rate: Competitive / Negotiable.
  • Additional: Customer tips are shared between the Restaurant Team.
  • Contract Type: Permanent position.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated HEAD CHEF to oversee the day to day management of our OYSTER BAR KITCHEN TEAM, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and service. Key responsibilities: managing all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking and presentation; supervising, mentoring and training the Kitchen Team, ensuring they adhere to food safety and hygiene standards; oversee inventory management, including stock ordering and rotation, managing cost control measures to optimise profitability; plan staff rotas to ensure efficient staffing levels, plus monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency and standards. 

The successful applicant needs to have proven leaderships skills, with experience supervising and motivating a diverse team in a fast-paced kitchen environment, whilst maintaining attention to detail; have excellent culinary skills with a passion for creating new dishes, together with experience working with fish and seafood food; have a knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices, strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask effectively, plus great communication skills to support teamwork between the Kitchen and Front of House.

We are looking for a talented and and highly motivated CHEF DE PARTIE to join our busy KITCHEN TEAM in our award winning Loch Fyne Oyster Bar Restaurant, ensuring the highest standards of food preparation, presentation and service, and supporting the Head and Sous Chefs in daily operations.  Key responsibilities: food preparation, cooking and presentation, managing portion and waste control, maintaining cleanliness and organisation of workstation and kitchen,  adherence to food safety, quality and hygiene standards; co-ordinate with other sections for smooth kitchen operations, contribute to menu development, participate with stock rotation, control and inventory, plus assist with deliveries, ensuring proper storage of ingredients. 

The successful applicant needs to have: proven culinary skills, together with experience working with fish and seafood; a passion for personal development and creating new dishes; the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced kitchen environment, whilst maintaining attention to detail; have an understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices; strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively, plus excellent communication and teamwork skills.
