Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd is based at Cairndow, at the head of Loch Fyne on the West Coast of Scotland.

From this stunning location we have been producing and supplying high quality products worldwide for over 35 years.  Our internationally known products are processed from the freshest and highest quality fish and seafood obtained only from sustainable sources.

Our team at Cairndow fulfill a wide variety of roles from processing staff, to restaurant and retail staff, along with administration and sales.  We employ over 125 people and have developed strong links with the local communities. There is flexibility within the work place to move between roles and departments.

PROCESSING OPERATIVES
To assist in our smoked salmon processing areas

Location:
Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd, Clachan, Cairndow, Argyll, PA26 8BL, Scotland

♦ Contract Type:                Temporary 
♦ Rate of Pay:                     £7.50 per hour (increases to £7.80 per hour after successful completion of probation period)
♦ Working Hours:               Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week
♦ Typical Shift Pattern:      Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.45pm / Friday 7.45am to 1.45pm
♦ Other Info:                       Public transport is available from/to Dunoon

Job Description:
We require additional staff to join our PRODUCTION TEAM to work in a variety of areas, assisting with the preparation, slicing and packing of smoked salmon for the retail trade.  The ideal candidates need to be committed, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in food handling is not essential, as training will be provided.  Current Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence would be beneficial.

We have a range of positions available in the following Production Areas:

FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE
Using Global G.A.P accredited salmon which is delivered to us already gutted, our Filleting Team hand and machine fillet our salmon. Once filleted, our team then cure the salmon before washing and loading it into our smoking kilns.

SLICING ROOM – this area consists of 4 different sections:
Trimming: works as a small production line with our team trimming, removing pin bones and grading the salmon.
Slicing Machines: involves the operation of 2 slicing machines; one for cutting strips of salmon along the length of the fillet and a second machine for slicing a diagonal cut.
Slicing Hall: consists of a large conveyor system with separate stations; each station has its own table and scale.  All of our salmon packs are produced at these stations, before being placed onto a roller track and then moved into our Vacuum Packing section. 
Vacuum Packing: all of our products are bagged, vacuum packed and then bar-coded in this section before being moved through to our Despatch area.

DESPATCH
At our dedicated packing stations, our Despatch Team pick and pack orders, selecting a wide range of items including, smoked products, fresh fish, shellfish, meats and marinated produce.  The boxes are then transferred by roller track to a despatch station, where the boxes are then iced and labeled, before being passed through a strapping machine, then palletised and moved to our despatch chill, ready for despatch to our customers.

YARD
The Yard Team operate a wide variety of equipment within the yard areas, including counterbalance forklift trucks to load and unload delivery lorries, as well as assisting with the traffic flow through the Goods-In/Out areas, plus carrying out a range of checks and cleaning duties.

COMMIS CHEF

Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Commis Chef to join our busy Kitchen Team in our award winning Oyster Bar Restaurant, assisting in the smooth running of the kitchen, preparing and cooking dishes from our menu.

Experience in a similar environment working with fish and seafood would be preferred but is not essential, though a passion for food and development is.

You must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced kitchen, plus have good communication skills and excellent food hygiene standards.

To assist in maintaining the general cleanliness and tidiness of the Company site

♦ Other Info:                          Driving licence / own transport would be beneficial
                                          

Job Description:
We are looking for a highly reliable, conscientious and self motivated person to assist the Health & Safety / Environmental Manager in maintaining the general cleanliness and tidiness of the Company site.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following skills:
♦ Good communication skills
♦ Experience with general maintenance, including; painting, gardening, basic woodworking
♦ Ability to work independently and on your own initiative
♦ Capability to prioritise your own workload and tasks

The role will involve a variety of responsibilities including:
♦ General gardening tasks, including; hedge trimming, weeding, maintaining hanging flower baskets, clearing leaves, etc
♦ Basic woodworking tasks, i.e. repairing broken pallets
♦ Maintenance of the exterior of the site buildings, including; gutter clearing, painting, window cleaning and operation of the power washer machine to clean the building exteriors
♦ Keeping the site areas clean and tidy, including; emptying waste bins, sweeping areas, litter pickup, cleaning the smoking areas, etc
♦ Recycling of waste material within the site
♦ Ensure clear, safe pedestrian and vehicle access to the site, i.e. clearing snow, gritting, filling potholes, spreading gravel, etc
♦ Carry out basic repairs that do not require a specialised engineer
♦ Restock the staff canteen vending machine on a daily basis
♦ Carry out general hygiene checks of the staff canteen and toilets, restocking and cleaning as required
