From this stunning location we have been producing and supplying high quality products worldwide for over 35 years.  Our internationally known products are processed from the freshest and highest quality fish and seafood obtained only from sustainable sources.

Our team at Cairndow fulfill a wide variety of roles from processing staff to restaurant and retail staff, along with administration and sales.  We employ over 125 people and have developed strong links with the local communities. PROCESSING OPERATIVES (Clachan Site)

To assist in our smoked salmon processing areas

Location:
Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd, Clachan, Cairndow, Argyll, PA26 8BL, Scotland

♦ Contract Type:                Temporary 
♦ Rate of Pay:                     £7.50 per hour (increases to £7.80 per hour after successful completion of probation period)
♦ Working Hours:               Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week
♦ Typical Shift Pattern:       Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.45pm / Friday 7.45am to 1.45pm
♦ Other Info:                       Public transport is available from/to Dunoon

Job Description:
We require additional staff to join our PRODUCTION TEAM to work in a variety of areas, assisting with the preparation, slicing and packing of smoked salmon for the retail trade.  The ideal candidates need to be committed, reliable and able to work well as part of a team.  Previous experience in food handling is not essential, as training will be provided.  Current Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence would be beneficial.

We have a range of positions available in the following Production Areas:

FILLETING/SMOKEHOUSE
Using Global G.A.P accredited salmon which is delivered to us already gutted, our Filleting Team hand and machine fillet our salmon. Once filleted, our team then cure the salmon before washing and loading it into our smoking kilns.

SLICING ROOM – this area consists of 4 different sections:
Trimming: works as a small production line with our team trimming, removing pin bones and grading the salmon.
Slicing Machines: involves the operation of 2 slicing machines; one for cutting strips of salmon along the length of the fillet and a second machine for slicing a diagonal cut.
Slicing Hall: consists of a large conveyor system with separate stations; each station has its own table and scale.  All of our salmon packs are produced at these stations, before being placed onto a roller track and then moved into our Vacuum Packing section. 
Vacuum Packing: all of our products are bagged, vacuum packed and then bar-coded in this section before being moved through to our Despatch area.

DESPATCH
At our dedicated packing stations, our Despatch Team pick and pack orders, selecting a wide range of items including, smoked products, fresh fish, shellfish, meats and marinated produce.  The boxes are then transferred by roller track to a despatch station, where the boxes are then iced and labeled, before being passed through a strapping machine, then palletised and moved to our despatch chill, ready for despatch to our customers.

YARD
The Yard Team operate a wide variety of equipment within the yard areas, including counterbalance forklift trucks to load and unload delivery lorries, as well as assisting with the traffic flow through the Goods-In/Out areas, plus carrying out a range of checks and cleaning duties.

PROCESSING OPERATIVE (Oyster Farm)



To assist with the operation of our Oyster Farm and Depuration Centre.

♦ Rate of Pay: £7.50 per hour (increases to £7.80 p/hr after successful probation completion)
♦ Working Hours: Full time hours, based on 40 hours per week
♦ Typical Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.00am to 4.00m / Friday 7.00am to 1.00pm
♦ Other Info: Full driving licence essential, your own transport would be beneficial

Job Description: We require a highly reliable, enthusiastic and self motivated person to join our AQUACULTURE TEAM to assist in the day to day operation of the Oyster Farm and Depuration Centre. The successful candidate will be able to work well within a small, focused team. Previous aquaculture experience, with transferable related skills and qualifications preferable, however full training through in-house and external training providers will be provided. The role will involve a combination of working outside in all types of weather conditions, as well as inside the site’s Oyster Farm and Depuration Centre.

Day to day duties and responsibilities will vary and will include: - Grading, purification and packing shellfish. - Operation of equipment for the processing and packing of shellfish. - A range of cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the site. - Assisting with the aquaculture site maintenance.

Due to the working requirements of the role, full driving licence is essential; your own transport would be beneficial.
Occasional weekend working, plus some early starts/late finishes as and when required.
