David Attwood, Aquaculture Director at Loch Fyne Oysters said “In the absence of any EU or UK standards and methods, Loch Fyne Oysters Limited carries out extensive testing for the presence of norovirus in our oysters and we have developed our own Management Strategy to ensure that the supplies of our raw oysters are safe to eat.
This has been developed over the last three years in collaboration with our local Environmental Health Officer and CEFAS Weymouth and includes a recognised testing procedure and safe levels.”
